top-20 US university

Who can apply this round

You need all three

The form asks about them first, so you’ll know straight away whether this round is open to you.

  1. SAT

    An SAT score

You’ll need your total in hand when you apply. There’s no minimum score.

  2. 20

    Applying early to a top-20

Early Decision 1, restrictive or single-choice early action, or early action.

  3. 2031

    In the Class of 2031

You’re in 12th grade now, or taking a gap year.

How the round works

We read applications as they come in, so the sooner you apply, the more weeks you have with the team before November 1.

  1. Today

    Apply on this page.

  2. Interview

One on one, if we shortlist you. Then you work with the team every week.

  3. November 1

The early deadline at most schools. You submit by then.

  4. Mid-December

    Early decisions come out.

What we work on before you submit

  • Supplemental essays

Every essay your early school asks for, and your personal statement, from the first draft to the last.

  • Activities list

Which activities go on it, and how each line reads to someone who has never met you.

  • Recommendation letters

Help picking who to ask, and what their letters should cover.

  • Financial aid forms

The CSS Profile and the other aid forms, with a plan for covering the cost.

  • The final read

Before you submit, someone who used to decide admissions reads the whole file and tells you how it lands.

  • The UNLOCK platform

Full access to UNLOCK and its alumni, and help with the rest of your university list, sized to what your family can spend.

Your early application has to go to one of these, under any early plan it offers. UCLA and UC Berkeley have no early round, so neither can be your early school.

Questions about this round

Is there a minimum SAT score?

No. The form asks for your SAT total, and you can apply with any score. You do need to have taken the SAT.

Which early plans count?

Any early plan at a top-20 university: Early Decision 1, restrictive or single-choice early action, or early action. Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Stanford, along with several others, run restrictive early action instead of Early Decision. That counts too.

Can I apply if I’m not in the Class of 2031?

No. This round is only for the Class of 2031, which means you’re in 12th grade now or taking a gap year.

Is it really free?

Yes. It’s a full scholarship, so you pay nothing for any part of it.

Early Decision is binding. What if my family can’t afford the school?

Early Decision means you agree to attend if you’re admitted. If the financial aid offer doesn’t make attending possible for your family, you can be released from that agreement. We help your family with the aid forms along the way.

How many students will you take?

Up to 25 this round.

What happens in the interview?

If you’re shortlisted, we meet you one on one to hear about your goals and get a sense of whether the program fits you.

Does my English need to be perfect?

No. An IELTS of 7.5 or the equivalent helps, and you can apply without any score. We look at everything together.

What if I’m not selected?

You keep everything you wrote and worked out, and you’re welcome to join another Agora program.
