Finland's Economy Map
Finland's Economy Map
In 1949 someone built a computer out of water pipes to explain economics. Finland remade it as a website.
Money flows between people, companies, government. Normal economy map. But they added the environmental and social limits, the edges where everything breaks.
You can draw your own theories on it. Because economics is just people arguing about how they think things connect.
Useful.

Why this matters for Econ students:
Every policy wonk has their pet lever. "More investment!" "Lower taxes!" "Export more stuff!"
Great. Now what happens to everything else?
Most economic analysis is like adjusting your car's mirrors while ignoring the engine, the brakes, and the fact you're heading toward a cliff.
Good tools show you the whole dashboard. Change interest rates? Watch housing, employment, and inflation move together. That's how systems actually work.
On why GDP is a stupid finish line:
Old question: "How do we make the number bigger?"
Better question: "Does everyone have healthcare, food, and a roof, without burning through the planet's water, forests, and atmosphere?"
Measuring tons of steel is easy. Measuring "a functioning civilization" is harder. But only one of those matters.
